no chance romance

lazy oaf autumn 16

Not much to say, this stuff is just pastel and cute as hell.
Like a casual, urban Kirsten Dunst as Marie Antoinette.

neverland adventure

Recently, Baby Gap put out a small line of clothes inspired
by Peter Pan called Neverland Adventure.

Peter Pan just so happens to be one of my top 3 Disney movies, (alongside Mary Poppins and Sleeping Beauty.) Peter Pan's Flight is one of my must-rides at Disneyland. I had a nightgown as a kid I referred to as my Wendy PJs, and loved speaking in a terrible English accent and saying, "Wendy Moira Angela Darling." Basically, I love everything about the story.

In a few days I'm headed to the east coast to play a couple shows and record, but first I'm going to North Carolina to see my cousin Heather, Guy, and little Archer. I've requested we watch Peter Pan together for Archer's first viewing. Obviously I can't do this without making it ceremonious and over the top, so I had to get him one of the Neverland onesies. What I REALLY wanted was the Lost Boys Treehouse onesie, but it sold out too quickly, so I went with the Pan's ship 'Adventure Awaits' one.

I can't wait to dress him up and snuggle him and sing all the songs and look at all the beautiful art in the Disney version of the story.
Oh, I also got the Peter Pan Little Golden Book to read to him.
Eeeee I can't wait!

vintage forest

Tatty Devine has done it again! The new contemporary line for Autumn/Winter 2016 features sewing and textile motifs as well as owls, hedgehogs, and my personal favorite - vintage forest..

I made a style board inspired by this piece. I think I just might have to spring for it.

In addition to all this autumnal goodness, they put out an absurdly genius pair of necklaces...

RED WINE AND CHEESE BUNTING? YES PLEASE!
SO INSPIRATIONAL I HAD TO MAKE A BOARD.

my spring/summer 2016 wardrobe

I have sworn off shorts for a while. I couldn't get down. But for some reason recently I was like "What the fuck? I like my legs! I like being able to move around without worrying about my underwear showing!"
So I decided to give shorts another chance.

I'm going on tour with Jeff Rosenstock and my band, Upset in the last half of May, so I've been collecting new pieces of clothing for my "tour look". Usually I'm super drawn to bright colors, but lately I've been into more muted colors. My look for this spring/summer is retro camp/athletic; shorts with tube socks, ringer tees under denim jackets and army/navy button-ups (with all the badass Tuesday Bassen gear adorning those jackets), cherry nails and lips courtesy of MAC x Charlotte Olympia, bobby pins and barrettes to keep my growing hair out of my face, and my trusty Doc Marten Elphies for a nice touch of sturdy femininity.

x darby forever x

A while back I wrote that I got to work on something really cool that I couldn't talk about.
That cool thing was Darby Forever.

Darby Forever is a short film written by Aidy Bryant who plays the titular character, Darby. Aidy reached out to me via email over the summer, told me about her idea, asked if I was available/willing to play a part, and sent me the script. It was so hilarious and beautifully written, I felt like I could see the exactly what Aidy had in mind. Obviously, I was thrilled to be a part of it, and got to play Bad Girl 2 alongside my longtime best friend/former bandmate, Katy Goodman, and real-life badass, Natasha Lyonne. A few days before shooting, Aidy came over to my house and she, Katy, and I wrote a song for the movie called "I'm a Bitch."

You can watch Darby Forever on Vimeo here: Darby Forever.

vegas goth

You know how I said I just watched AHS Coven in my last post? That's because my dear friends Erin and Sean forced me to. We are going to Las Vegas together this weekend. I told Erin I just wanna dress like a witch while I'm there, and she said she did too. I told her I got a sequin dress, and then she coined the term "vegas goth" as in, "Let's dress like vegas goths." So this weekend, that is exactly what we'll do. Here's a style board inspired by our desired looks...

Vegas Goth is like regular goth, but with some sequins and cool toned colors added in.
Like a witch, but with a little more glitz and glam.

EDIT: Pics from Vegas!

As you can see, the goth aesthetic in juxtaposition to Las Vegas is comical.
